Winter Salvation raises spirits at The Salvation Army

This Holiday Season, VALU Home Centers will do its part to raise spirits at The Salvation Army. On Thursday morning, Dec. 16 at the VALU Home Center located at Elmwood and Hertel Avenue in Buffalo, NY, Michael A. Ervolina, Jr., President of VALU Home Centers presented a check for $43,230 to Major Robert Dixon from The Salvation Army. The check represents VALU’s donation from the sale of Winter Salvation Kits throughout the company’s 41 retail home centers.

VALU sold over 8,600 of the Winter Salvation Kits throughout Western New York, Central New York, and Northwestern Pennsylvania for $19.88 each and donated $5.00 from each kit to The Salvation Army. All money raised will remain in the communities where it was collected. With this year’s check VALU has now donated more than $431,000 through the Winter Salvation promotion.

The 49-piece Winter Salvation Kit is an auto safety kit containing many items that may be needed in an emergency including jumper cables, a towrope, flashlight, and a first aid kit. The money raised by the Winter Salvation promotion is used by The Salvation Army to provide needy families with food, warm clothing and toys.

VALU has also focused on giving back to the community by being actively involved in fund raising and community events for numerous charitable organizations.
