A tractor trailer hauling scrap to Upstate Shredding overturned Monday morning after it failed to negotiate a right hand turn onto the Court Street Bridge off of Route 434 in Owego.
According to Owego Police Chief Rick McCulskey, the accident occurred at approximately 5 a.m., and was cleaned up with assistance from Upstate Shredding by 9:30 a.m. The cleanup effort, he added, prompted the closure of the bridge – with traffic rerouted.
Assisting at the scene were the Owego Fire Police, the New York State Department of Transportation, and members of the Owego Police Department.
According to reports received following the incident, the driver, Daniel Chaves of Brentwood was ticketed for failing to reduce speed. There were no injuries reported.
