Waverly man arrested on warrant

The Tioga County Sheriff’s Department reported on Monday that Scott M. Hurd, age 38 of 591 St. Rt. 34, Waverly, N.Y., was arrested Saturday on a warrant issued by Tioga County Court.

According to the report, Hurd turned himself in at the Tioga County Jail where he was remanded without bail. Hurd is to appear before Judge Smith, Tioga County Court, at a later date.

Athens man arrested for possession of marijuana

The Tioga County Sheriff’s Department reported on Monday that Travis L. Lattimer, age 33 of 120 Spruce St. in Athens, was arrested on Friday for Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.

According to the report, this charge resulted from an investigation of a domestic incident that occurred on West River Road in the town of Nichols. Lattimer was issued an appearance ticket to appear before Justice Joann Caloroso, Town of Nichols Court, on Feb. 14.

Athens woman arrested for possession of controlled substance

The Tioga County Sheriff’s Department reported on Monday that Crystal P. Walker, age 26 of 120 Spruce St. in Athens, was arrested on Friday for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th.

According to the report, Walker was allegedly found to be in possession of two suboxone pills without a prescription. The pills, the report continued, were located during the investigation of a domestic incident on West River Road in the town of Nichols. Walker was issued an appearance ticket to appear before Justice Joann Caloroso, Town of Nichols Court, on Feb. 14.

Nichols man arrested for harassment

The Tioga County Sheriff’s Department reported on Monday that Joshua M. Babcock, age 28 of 66 C. Babcock Rd. in Nichols, N.Y., was arrested on Saturday for Aggravated Harassment 2nd, a class A misdemeanor.

According to the report, this charge resulted from a warrant that had been issued for numerous text messages Babcock sent to an individual in the town of Owego. Babcock was arraigned before Justice John Schumacher, Town of Owego Court, and was remanded to the Tioga County Jail on $500 bail or $1,000 bond. Babcock is to reappear before Justice Schumacher on Feb. 24. `

Waverly man charged with multiple traffic offenses

The Tioga County Sheriff’s Department reported on Monday that Ivan J. Tunnicliff, age 21 of 332 Broad St. in Waverly, N.Y.. was arrested on Sunday for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd, Unlicensed Operator, and Uninspected Motor Vehicle.

According to the report, these charges resulted from a vehicle stop on State Route 17C near E. Barton Road in the town of Barton.

Tunnicliff was issued appearance tickets to appear before Justice Joseph Fravel, Town of Barton Court, on Feb. 1.

No inspection stop leads to charges

The Tioga County Sheriff’s Department reported on Tuesday that Michael D. Space, age 21 of 9 Blodgett Rd. in Newark Valley, was arrested on Jan. 24, 2011 for Aggrevated Unlicensed Operation 3rd following a vehicle stop for no inspection. According to the report, Space was issued an appearance ticket to appear before Justice Ronald Bell, Town of Owego Court, on Feb. 8, 2011.

Accident results in charges of following too closely

The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident on Jan. 24, 2011 on State Route 96 in the town of Tioga. According to the report, a vehicle operated by Shannon M. Pelto, age 22 of 232 N. Main St. in Spencer, was stopped in traffic on State Route 96 when it was struck in the rear by 32 year old Jennifer M. Cornell of 476 Buffalo Rd. in Brooktondale. Pelto complained of neck pain.

After investigation, Cornell was ticketed with following too closely. The Owego Fire Department and Squad assisted at the scene.

Owego man charged with possessing and selling stolen scrap metal

The Tioga County Sheriff’s Department reported on Wednesday at Glenn E. Cummings, age 34 of 383 Glenmary Dr. in Owego, was arrested on Jan. 25, 2011 for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th, a class A misdemeanor.

This charge, according to the report, resulted from Cummings possessing and selling, as scrap metal, several items that had been reported stolen by an automotive repair shop in the town of Tioga. The items were sold on West Main Street in the Village of Owego. Cummings was issued an appearance ticket to appear before Justice David Boland, Village of Owego Court, on Feb. 28, 2011.

Warrant arrest results in charges of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance

The Tioga County Sheriff’s Department reported on Thursday that on Jan. 26, 2011,

Sean R. Prahm, age 27 of 84 Main St. in Owego, was arrested for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 5th, a class D felony. According to the report, this charge resulted from an arrest warrant being issued for Prahm for a violation of probation.

Prahm was remanded to the Tioga County Jail without bail awaiting an appearance before Judge Sgueglia, Tioga County Court.

Auburn man arrested for underage consumption of alcohol

The Tioga County Sheriff’s Department reported on Thursday that on Jan. 26, 2011, Thomas R. Canzio, age 19 of 3604 Melrose Rd. in Auburn, was arrested for Underage Consumption of Alcohol, an alcohol beverage control violation.

According to the report, this charge resulted from Canzio allegedly consuming alcohol at 56 Liberty St. in the Village of Spencer on Dec. 31, 2010, and being involved in a disturbance. Canzio was removed from the scene and treated by Robert Packer Hospital and released. Canzio was issued an appearance ticket and was scheduled to appear before Justice Barb Lester, Village of Spencer Court.
