Audubon Meeting to feature ‘Birds of Tioga County’

Spencer Hunt, president of the Tioga Bird Club, will present a program for the Susquehanna Valley Audubon Society on Tuesday, March 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Page Manor located at 502 Church St. in Athens, Pa.

Hunt will present another installment of the “Birds of Tioga County”. Hunt will play a bird call and show the picture of the bird. Then the audience will have a moment to exercise their memory to see if they recognize the bird. He will tell what it is and provide more information about the bird. The bird photographs are taken by many of the best photographers in the area.

Hunt is a life-long resident of Tioga County. He is a retired biology teacher, and a very knowledgeable birder. For the last seven years, Hunt has been the Region 4 Summer Editor of “Kingbird”, the quarterly journal of the New York State Ornithology Association.

The evening starts with a dish-to-pass supper at 6 p.m. Those attending the supper are asked to bring a dish to pass and their own table service. Desserts and beverages will be provided by the hosts for the evening, Nancy and Lois Hutter and Doris Neilley.

At 7 p.m. there is a short club meeting and a wildlife sightings report. Everyone is encouraged to share their wild life sightings or report them on the club website at www.susquehannavalleyaudubon.org.
