The Lord’s Prayer is the most famous prayer on earth. Every Sunday churches around the world repeat its phrases. Many Christians pray this prayer every day, often many times every day. Numerous Biblical scholars affirm that everything Jesus came to tell us is included in the simple, yet elegant words of this remarkable prayer. This coming Lenten season, the Rev. Alan R.Jagger of the Owego United Methodist Church will present a seven-part sermon series on The Lord’s Prayer. It will begin on Sunday, March 13, with the first phrase from the prayer, “Our Father, Who art in Heaven,” and conclude on Easter Day with the wonderful affirmation, “For Thine is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory Forever. Amen!”
Also during Lent, the Wednesday night Lenten Bible Studies of the Owego UMC will follow the same seven-part breakdown of the prayer, with each study using the section of the prayer that will be the subject of the following Sunday’s sermon. This program begins on March 16 at 7 p.m. in the Chapel, located in the Barton Education Building of the church.
The church is located in the heart of Owego at 261 Main Street. For further information, call the church office at 687-2417, or email at email@example.com.
