‘Always on Sunday’ features Solo Organ recital
The Tioga County Council on the Arts invites guests to the last performance of their “Always on Sunday” Series. Ithaca College professor and organ scholar Dr. Leon W. Couch III will perform a solo recital at this season’s last “Always on Sunday” concert planned for Sunday, April 17, at 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Union Church located at the corner of North Avenue and Temple Street in Owego.
Dr. Couch will present a program of classical works including pieces by Bach, Pachelbel and Vierne. Dr. Couch holds two doctoral degrees from the University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory of Music as well as undergraduate degrees in physics, mathematics and music from the University of Florida.
Couch’s performance will be enhanced by the Presbyterian Church’s organ, one of the finest around the area. It is a Hutchings tracker organ which dates to 1889 and is on the National Historic Registry.
There will be a reception following the performance.
The concert is free but free will donations will be gratefully accepted at the door.
