According to the Waverly Police, Karl J. Knipp, age 39, was arrested on Aug. 31 at 7 a.m. at his home in the Village of Waverly, N.Y. Knipp was arrested on a warrant that had resulted from a domestic incident that had occurred on Aug. 20 at 11 p.m.
Knipp is charged with felony aggravated criminal contempt in the second degree, misdemeanor, assault in the third degree, and misdemeanor criminal mischief in the fourth degree.
Knipp is accused of assaulting a female victim, causing a physical injury, during the domestic incident. He is alleged to have taken a cell phone and home phone away from the victim in an attempt to prevent her from getting police or medical assistance.
A court order of protection was also in effect between the two prior to the incident. Knipp had fled on foot from the location of the domestic incident that night. A warrant for his arrest was then obtained.
Knipp was arraigned in the Village of Waverly Justice Court on Aug. 31, and was was sent to the Tioga County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
