Village Board approves negotiated CSEA contract

The Village of Owego Board voted Monday night to approve the recently negotiated CSEA contact. The contract was approved unanimously by the CSEA Bargaining Unit one week prior.

The contract was at an impasse and went to mediation last month. The contract provides for an average annual salary increase of 1.6 percent over the life of the five year contract. It also increases employee contributions to their health care plan and established a higher contribution to health care plans for new hires. The plan also increased the salaries of the lowest paid employees to $10 per hour.

“The contract is a good balance of keeping costs low for village taxpayers while acknowledging the important work that our employees do,” stated Mayor Kevin Millar in a recent release.
